Artist Nicole Caodie, known for her performative work, sheds light on how imagination, inspiration and intuition, are the main guiding principals in understanding how conscious creativity lends itself to the benefit of deepening our sense of connection to self, others and environment from a contemporary anthroposophical perspective.
What exactly is imagination and how does it become a collective faculty, enabling us to transform our perspectives, choices and environments? Nicole will break down the development of imagination and offer a series of questions on how this relates to responsibility - the ability to respond.
Using various imagery from Rosicrucian lithographs, to Steiner's, Buey’s and her own blackboard drawings - Nicole maps out a diverse and cultural picture of how creativity allows us to sense what is unspoken, rehearse alternative arrangements, and make perceptible what dominant systems render invisible.
What is personal is political - If politics is concerned with how we live together, then imagination is the ground on which those possibilities first emerge. What we cannot imagine, we cannot build. What we cannot feel, we cannot defend.
This lecture asks: How does imagination shape public life? When does creativity become a form of responsibility? And what responsibilities arise when we recognise creative practice as a force that actively participates in collective transformation?

Kunstenares Nicole Caodie, bekend om haar performatieve werk, werpt licht op hoe verbeelding, inspiratie en intuïtie de belangrijkste leidende principes zijn bij het begrijpen hoe bewuste creativiteit bijdraagt aan het verdiepen van onze verbondenheid met onszelf, met anderen en met onze omgeving, vanuit een hedendaags antroposofisch perspectief.
Wat is verbeelding precies en hoe wordt het een collectief vermogen dat ons in staat stelt onze perspectieven, keuzes en omgevingen te transformeren? Nicole zal de ontwikkeling van verbeelding uiteenzetten en een reeks vragen aanreiken over hoe dit zich verhoudt tot verantwoordelijkheid – het vermogen om te antwoorden (response-ability).
Aan de hand van diverse beelden, van rozenkruiserslithografieën tot tekeningen van Steiner, Beuys en haar eigen schoolbordtekeningen, schetst Nicole een veelzijdig en cultureel rijk beeld van hoe creativiteit ons in staat stelt het onuitgesprokene waar te nemen, alternatieve ordeningen te verkennen en zichtbaar te maken wat door dominante systemen onzichtbaar wordt gemaakt.
Het persoonlijke is politiek – als politiek gaat over hoe wij samenleven, dan is verbeelding de grond waarop die mogelijkheden eerst ontstaan.
Wat we ons niet kunnen voorstellen, kunnen we niet bouwen. Wat we niet kunnen voelen, kunnen we niet verdedigen.
Deze lezing stelt de vragen: Hoe vormt verbeelding het publieke leven? Wanneer wordt creativiteit een vorm van verantwoordelijkheid? En welke verantwoordelijkheden ontstaan wanneer we creatieve praktijk erkennen als een kracht die actief bijdraagt aan collectieve transformatie?
